I cannot hear it,
the syntax of rain,
as it falls through sunlight
on my ears, my lips,
my arms, my thoughts
while I walk beside
the thunderous waterfall,
but we do not need
to hear the rain
to know it is here,
our shoulders bare
and increasingly
wet.
Whatta loverly pic — river of light.
We do not need to hear the rain’s syntax, to know it’s here, for it’s all around and in us. We are stardust and raindrop.
I think it is right that you start with the I and close with the we/our. I didn’t quite notice it at first, so smoothly it shifted, and then I listened again. A single drop to a waterfall.
