There is treasure in you.
—Joi Sharp
If you were here
I would put my hand
on your heart
and hold it there
until our breaths
became a single tide,
hold it there until
I could feel the moment
when you remember
your infinite value.
It’s so easy to forget
we are treasure.
So easy to lose track
of our own immeasurable worth.
The chest rusts shut.
We think we are empty.
Amazing how easily
we are fooled into believing
we’re paupers.
Sometimes it takes another
to remind us
we have always been
not only the treasure
but also the key.
Though the hinges
are a metaphor,
the treasure is not.
We were made to open,
to share our priceless gift,
to press our hands
to each other’s hearts
and hold them there
until we all remember.
This is a treasure that reminds me of the treasures I forget. Thank you! I love how tender and strong this poem is. And…I love that same thing about you, Rosemerry! Thanks for sharing you and your work! Love and Namaste
Sweet treasure of you. Thank you for all the times and ways you’ve put your hand on my heart. I love you so.
Heartfelt. So easy to lose track of our own immeasurable worth. Thank you
Ah, friend, it’s so easy. And yet the blessings of others to help us find our way back in!
Beautiful reminder to carry in my day, thank you.
Thank you, Nina! Thanks for all the ways you’ve put your hand on people’s hearts, mine included! Your holiday open house looks incredible!
Yes, how easily we forget or fail to acknowledge the treasure we hold within our hearts. Thank you for sharing your treasured words so we can feel validated, better understood, and less unworthy when we read them. Bless you! x 😊❤️
Thank you, Joy–oh friend, it can be so hard to remember!!! And I am so grateful for all those who put their hands on my heart. Hugs to you.
Just in touching we are able to co-regulate our nervous systems(guess who is working with a body therapist right now!) Anyway I sure miss the chance to get that rhythm from another in person during the pandemic.
oh friend, me, too. I miss touch so much.
