alongside the cliff
keeping pace with my car
the blue heron
*
flying blackbird
dead mouse in its beak
this too is peace
*
more wind
than woman
this flesh
*
midnight
even the whitest lilies
are blue
*
sharing breath
with the crow
the whole world is crow
*
in the nest,
two blue eggs
two wide brown eyes
I love that image at the end of the eggs and the eyes, so evocative. And the “in the nest” strikes me too as finally arriving home. Such a fine brood of haiku.
yes, indeed, “a fine brood,” but not any to brood over…. :~)
“more wind/than woman”, “…even the whitest lilies”, “…two wide brown eyes” Behold, the power of haiku: So much contained in so little.
It’s currently raining, outside the library’s window. Graces from from the space above, and here, graces from cyberspace.
