Just before sleep,
my son says he heard
about a solar system
with three suns.
I try to imagine
the gravity of it,
wonder how
it might change
our ideas of god
not to mention love
if we, too, looked up
and saw all that light.

“…the gravity of it,…” The gravity, indeed! :~) (And is their Holy Trinity comprised of Sun Gods?)
If we were triple-beamed in light and warmth, would we despair as much? Feel as stranded, isolated, abandoned, left to our own puny devices? Would we still figure a way to envision a cold, dark world out there?
Finally, finally, the Trinity might make sense…:)
I too like that line about “how it might change our ideas of god” but it made me think back to the platform of mythologies, of separate gods, for separate purposes. The other thing here that seems important to me is your including that your son’s comment comes “before sleep” because it induces that dreamlike imagination of the speaker. Great link, especially the imagined picture…
