Just before
it disappears
it’s ten times
brighter,
the moon—
oh love
is it any wonder
our shine
sometimes
frightens me?

Oh, dear Rosemerry. Just because the moon has set doesn’t mean it’s no longer there, no longer shining. And is it not, also, “ten times brighter,” when it first reappears on our horizons?
