these crazy thoughts
cross the center line, play chicken
with all other thoughts
*
in the sun glazed pond
not one sandhill crane—
the beauty of wanting
*
just when the bonfire
is too big to control—
throwing in another stick

haiku is the best kind of recklessness.
in the first one, i might change “all” to “my.”
I’ve just been visiting sandhill cranes…not sure I quite see the recklessness there but the want of beauty is not the same, is it, as the beauty of wanting?
And I’ve been burning irrigation ditches and the pond. You are so in tune with my spring chores. Recklessness, indeed.
