around us, so much dying
still, it’s inevitable, falling in love

“it’s inevitable,’ how? someone, say, gives you the yellow rose and you fall in love with them, or, you happen across (or, again, are given) a yellow rose and you fall in love with that rose?
all that said, i like the turn toward hope, toward the light, of the last two lines. amid so much (too much of late?) dying, this bit of yellow, fragrant life.
How indeed! Hmmm, it was a yellow rose I happened on, the only one left. I suppose it is not inevitable to run into the rose, but when faced with such beauty, no matter what else is around us, there is this glorious invitation to fall in love with, what? The rose? Yes, that too, but also with this being alive.
Methinks this poem is too short for its own good
Thanks for helping me see some of the gaps! r

I do think the yellow rose, if it’s not from Texas, has the best fragrance.
